Welcome to Fife Bowling Association Web Site
Fife Bowling Association was instituted in 1879 as the The Fifeshire Bowling Association when a small group of like minded clubs namely (Cupar, Dunfermline, Dunfermline Northern, Kirkcaldy, Leven, Lochgelly, Markinch and Newport) decided to get together and form an association whose objectives would be to promote the game of bowling. There was only one competition very similar to the Gilmour but with only two rinks and the prize was a Silver Cup.
It would appear that the association grew slowly and in 1958 the constitution was expanded and amended to change the name to the Fife Bowling Association and to join, clubs had to have at least 20 members. Rules were also laid down for the various competitions the Association had now in progress.
In 1972 and 1977 the Constitution and Rules were again updated to take into account the changes in the game. In 1995 another set of Constitution and Rules was adopted to include the Top Ten competition and update changes in the game. These were again revised in 2011 and this is the set we are currently operating under.
The association at present has 67 member clubs stretched from the four corners of the County of Fife and still holds true to those objectives set over 125 years ago. It is managed by Elected officials and councillors from each of the two Areas that the clubs have been divided up into. The councillors organise and run the district competitions and the Secretary and the other officials organise and run the other competitions for the benefit of the members. The links above will take you to the various competitions and provide you with news and results as it happens. There are e-mail links to all the elected officials and councillors along with a little information from each of them.
If you have any suggestions or comments to make either about the website or the Association, please feel free to send an e-mail to the webmaster.
